SCHWING!!
Me and the ole roadbike have been looking forward to this milestone for quite some time now, even though technically it was met around 400 miles ago. My first cyclecomputer had the aforementioned 400 miles on it when it fell off my bike, and was run over. By me. I went back and got it, but alas it was destroyed and the screen was blank. So what's next? Who knows, work towards 2000 I guess. Or maybe I could pick up some rain gear and truly become that crazy guy on a bike, rather than the fair-weather cyclist I am now.
Bicycle commuting has really been growing on me for several reasons. I've always been kind of a dork about things that I can tinker with and adjust, and a road bike is a pretty cool piece of technology. It also allows me to get some exercise, and even play athlete when I'm in the mood to really crank away and make good time. It's great getting to work in the morning feeling awake, alert, and ready to take on the day. Of course there's also the part of me that likes saving gas money and miles on my truck. All in all it's been a pretty good experience so far!

Congrats on 1,000 (1,400)!!!!
It's a really good exercise!! Don't you feel like you're more awake when you wake up and commute by bike?? I love riding!!!
for sure! exercise, fresh air, "me" time, it's all good stuff
Do it! Be the all weather commuter!! I made the leap this past winter. It was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Layering is most important, and for me, I went with a folding bike, in case the weather turned really bad and I had to catch a ride home with someone (this way my bike could still come along).
I can't believe I'm giving winter bike commute advice in the middle of June though...
